Re: **Official PP Weight Loss/Support Thread**

Hi all-
I've been using caloriecount.com to log calories and weight loss and activities. Its great and free! I assume it is much like what you can do with WW online (i've never joined WW, so I'm just guessing). But it gives you timinng on when you will reach your goal, tracks how much you burn everyday. You can enter things like you vacummed for 20 mintues and it logs the calories you burn doing that. Plus a database of foods to add to your caloric intake for the day.

Amazing free tool to let you see the progress on paper, so to speak!

I get a Venti Iced Vanilla Latte from Starbucks every morning. I've tried it "skinny" and its just not the same Chat Icon The way I like it is 320 calories. Is that HORRIBLE? I usually eat a small fat free yogurt when I get to work and thats my breakfast ...

should I let it go? Chat Icon

anyone that has done/doing WW- im at a loss for quick to make lunches.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sandwiches are easy and if you get the right bread, very point friendly.

I also like making things for dinner that make for good lunch the next day - turkey chili, cous cous or quinoa chicken salad (grilled chicken mixed with cous or quinoa, cucumbers, tomatoes, sauteed garlic and onions, scallions, parsley, salt, pepper, balsamic, lemon juice and a wee bit of olive oil), steak salad (grilled flank steak or filet with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, etc. in a very friendly dressing) - these also tend to be things that taste better the next day.

My problem lately is finding the time and energy to cook dinner in the first place - work has been so busy and stressful and I'm a stress eater so I came home tonight, played with the baby, put her to bed, and had a slice of pie Chat Icon. I haven't even had dinner yet. I think I may have to go on South Beach again since I clearly have no ability to eat sugar or carbs in moderation.

And since others asked, my favorite WW snack - 100 calories hostess chocolate cupcakes - only 1 point b/c they're high in fiber.

thank you!!!

2. Names and ages of your DCs: Lucy, almost 9 months
3. How much do you want to lose? 25-35 pounds
4. Specific Challenges you face: hypothyroidism (my thyroid has been a little out of whack lately), working mom with little free time and energy, not a huge fan of most vegetables
5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy): I have done WW and am awesome at cheating it but that's not really helpful here, lol. I'm pretty good at changing existing recipes/foods to make them healthier
6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose): To wear a bikini and look and feel good about me in it
7. Anything else you might want to add: I would love a workout buddy, but I live in the city where naturally very few LIFers live. I also cannot blame the baby on my weight issues - I am just about at pp weight and currently up from where I was at 3 weeks pp - I actually lost weight from pregnancy because of terrible food aversions. This weight gain has been accumulating for a decade or so and it's been bothering me for that long too. I'd really like to finally get to a good place with my body after being so miserable about it for so long. But between working long hours and the baby and DH, it is hard to find the time and I'm not really willing to sacrifice sleep to exercise so I really need to work on my diet and fitting in some activity on weekends, etc. If only I could find my motivation - hoping you ladies can help!
Chat Icon

Marci- I am in Brooklyn. We can have meet-ups and go for walks.

That would be great! I work M-Th, but I have Fridays off.

Ask them for the sugar free syrup maybe? I use Da Vinci sugar free syrup for my coffee and you can barely tell there is no sugar in there.

2. Names and ages of your DCs: Ann is 15 months

3. How much do you want to lose? 60lbs would be ideal

4. Specific Challenges you face
Working full time and my age … I've never been "in shape" (although I was THIN until I hit 35) and I am physically exhausted every day caring for a toddler (even in the small amount of time we have during the week! Weekends really just kill me and it makes me sad). I know the age thing sounds silly but I just feel like I’ve been lazy for so long that it’s hard to turn that around (when I’m out of shape and have old lady aches & pains – LOL)

The other “challenge” is continuing to eat like I’m pregnant or like a 6’5” man (my DH).

5. Things you feel that you can help others with
Hmm ... nothing really! I’m usually a quitter! Wait, I do have unopened Zumba DVD’s I can give someone! LOL!

6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose)
I want to feel less drained and want to want to be in pictures with Ann (now I avoid it like the plague!)

7. Anything else you might want to add
I weighed myself for the first time in a long time and am only ten pounds less than when I was nine months pregnant. I almost threw up.
Downloaded Couch to 5K app over the weekend and even though I was home sick on Monday, because it was so gorgeous out, I did the first day pushing Ann in the stroller! And I did day 2 last night, in the dark after dinner, again pushing the stroller.
I bagged up clothes in sizes I haven’t been in YEARS over the weekend too. I think it helped mentally. I guess the saddest part is most of the stuff I packed up, I can remember being completely depressed when I had to buy the size 10’s (you know going into double digit depression!!) … and those were the SMALLEST size I bagged.

Wanted to add to my goals ... to wear a pair of jeans that are not painful or give me plumbers crack if I bent over to pick up Ann.

And really important to me is I want to be able to wear my rings again Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had GD when I was pregnant so I had to watch my carb and calorie intake. Snacks were especially tough but I found a bunch that worked for me:

100 Calorie pack Hostess chocolate cupcakes or Twinkies for when I craved junk food

Nuts like almonds and pistachios

5 Saltine crackers with either cream cheese or peanut butter (actually pretty filling)

Sugar free pudding

Kashi bars

String cheese

Vita Muffin Vitatops

Can you make it a tall? You cut the calories by just reducing the size. This way you have the taste and the coffee and not all of the calories. I would rather have less of the real thing than a huge thing of something I am not fond of.

Okay, updated!

Today I walked with DD for an hour-jogged a short part of it, walked up a small hill and made sure to walk at a brisk pace. It definitely was a win win since she napped the whole time!

I also had a lot of salad today and watched the carbs.

I am probably not weighing myself until the end of the week.

As people weigh themselves, post and I will update the original post.

1. Name: Beth

2. Names and ages of your DCs: Will, 15 months

3. How much do you want to lose? 10 pounds

4. Specific Challenges you face: I walked out of the hospital after having DS in the 120s...And managed to gain 10 lbs in the first year of his life. It's been such a stressful year, and my mother is battling cancer, so I feel like I just have no time. I work FT and literally cannot get to the gym. I was walking w/ DS every night, but it is getting freezing!

5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy): I'm not a great dieter, and lost weight during PG since I felt sick, so I wound up being less than PP weight right after having had DS. Sooooo I don't have too much advice for anyone.

6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose): I'd love to have more energy, and start eating healthier. I always feed DS first, so I am starving or grabbing something quick.

7. Anything else you might want to add:

3. How much do you want to lose? 10-12 lbs

4. Specific Challenges you face: Time! DD is in preschool M,W,F but its hard for me to get DS to nap long enough to exercise during that time. I have been shopping for a gym but am very picky with the babysitting. DH is gone from 5:30am til 9 or 10 pm so I am alone with the kids all the time. DS has a milk allergy and I am struggling with my diet. I have been doing ww online but the things that have really helped are greek yogurt and string cheese. Now that those are out its hard for me to find low fat high protein snacks. I am also carb intolerant so I have to really watch those.

5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy): I just ran a 1/2 marathon at 4 months post c/section. I am not a runner so I am very proud of that.

6. Goals of yours (more specific than the number you want to lose):
I did a lot of IF treatments for DS and was on exercise restrictions for my entire pg. I would do it all again in a second but now I want my body back! I want to be firm and HOT next summer. I want to rock my bikinis!

7. Anything else you might want to add: I have been on LIF for a while but mostly on the IF boards. With a new little one I am on more bc I have forgotten a lot of things. Also, I am EBFing and FF DD (she was in NICU and never latched). I am loving bfing but also need advice on DS' milk allergy and other baby issues that come up. I would love to meet up with some mommies and kids!!

I'll play! I love talkin weight loss Chat Icon

1. Name
Azad

2. Names and ages of your DCs
Dylan - 4 months

3. How much do you want to lose?
A solid 20 lbs. Not just 20 lbs on the scale but 20 lbs with exercise.

4. Specific Challenges you face
5. Things you feel that you can help others with (ex. You are an avid runner, you EBF with a milk allergy)

I have a few major hurdles that I am still working on getting around...

-DS does not STTN. He wakes 3-4 times a night and I end up exhausted. It is one of the major reasons I can't seem to get into a regular exericise routine.

-I am EBF. When I follow the ww program exactly I find that my milk supply really takes a hit Chat Icon I then eat extra calories and I see my milk come back to normal. Sometimes I feel like I have to sacrifice my weight loss to maintain my milk for DS Chat Icon I thought I would work running in during the day at work but I pump 3x a day and find it hard to get that in sometimes.

-I work full-time and my desire to spend time with DS outweighs my desier to go to the gym. I want to spend any extra seconds I have at home with him!

I can help anyone who may have a large amount of weight to lose (I have lost 100+ in the past). I am also a weight watcher expert and a running enthusiast!

7. Anything else you might want to add
Is anyone else EBFing and feel like this weight isn't going to come off until you stop?? I had a goal of being back to my pre-preggo weight by the time DS is 6 months. I feel like I won't be able to fully commit until it is over but I don't want it to go an entire year and I know it will be harder once I stop because I will lose that extra calorie burn!

This is something I am definitely struggling with and if anyone has any words of advice or how they get around this I would really love that.
