I know BUT, a lot of people think they are helping so the animals don't starve to death (control the population).

It seems most hunters though are going for the biggest kill - ie the strongest, fittest deer (for example). You don't hear many hunters bragging about killing the scrawney, sickly deer that would likely starve during a harsh winter.

Does Palin's stance on pro-life make any more sense then those who are pro-choice yet are active animal rights activists?

It's OK to kill an unborn child yet it's not OK to kill an animal? Chat Icon

Depends on why you are a vegetarian. I can easily defend early stage abortions - ie before a nervous system has developed. I am into animal rights because I want to minimize suffering. A fetus that has no nerves does not feel pain. I guess it depends on what you place the most value on - sentience, intelligence, life in general or just human life.

Re: ok.. Palin is pro-life...

Its hard for me to quote on my BlackBerry... I know nothing about Tommy. I was honestly just teasing when I said that and maybe shouldn't have done that until I knew him better. It was a bad joke and I'm sorry, Tommy. Most of his posts seem a bit adversarial, but If he is passionate then he has a right to that. That being said, I myself am a bit of a contradiction as I believe in Buddhism. Part of Buddhist belief is that the soul enters a person At the point of conception. This does place me in the pro life category. However, the laws of karma govern what happens to that soul. Buddhism also then follows the belief that should a soul die for any reason before birth, it was in that souls karma.

Sorry. I meant to say should the vessel holding that soul should die, not the soul. Souls don't die.

I would have to say the majority of people who hunt do it for sport, for fu they get a thrill out of stalking and killing. A small percentage of hunters do it just for food - out of necessity.

Not true at all. I know a lot of hunters and all of them hunt for tthe food. Dont get me wrong they love the hunt, but they all eat the meat all year long.

Since this thread has gotten long and people aren't reading the entire thing - I just want to state again that this is entirely UNTRUE.

Trig has nothing to do with trigger... A 5 second Google search would turn that up...

I can't understand WHY anyone gives an F what she names her CHILD..

Everyone is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too involved and searchiing for reasons that are beyond my undestanding!

Re: ok.. Palin is pro-life...

I'm pro-life and anti-hunting. I eat meat MAYBE 2x per week. But there is a huge difference between killing an animal and killing an unborn child IMHO.
