I'm seriously asking. Because nobody has responded.
To those that are pro-Palestinian - how can you defend a group (Hamas) who has it written explicitly in their charter that their only goal is to kill Jews and destroy Israel? And that this is the only acceptable end result?
I think some of the confusion lies in the fact that that was the elected government but also a terrorist organization
Not all Palestinians support Hamas. But for others I think that they feel Hamas is all they have as far as a resistance force. Palestine has no support and no military defense...against a country that receives billions of dollars in aide
Hamas has taken the gazans hostage and uses people as human shields and are living in the lap of luxury while the people live in poverty. They receive so much money from other counties and squander it away on themselves and rockets. They wasted millions of $ on building tunnels to carry out terrorism.Hamas uses schools, hospitals, homes and mosques to hide and shoot bombs and rockets. Israel pulled out of Gaza 7 years ago and left greenhouses and industry and Hamas leadership destroyed it all. This land could have been a seaside paradise.
And inspite of what is happening, Israel is still supplying Gaza with supplies and aid. Hamas broke 3 ceasefires this week and wouldn't accept blood donations from Israel.

I also didn't ask about Palestinians. I asked about you.

With all due respect, their land was basically taken from them. Please correct if I am wrong? A very, very, small piece of land was "given" back to them. . Actually, it wasn't anyone's land. 120 plus years agoit was desolate and sparsely populated while under British control. European Jews were better organized and did a great deal to modernize and develop the area. They ended up with it.
But they had to bring bulldozers over to demolish homes to build their own?? Not so modern if you ask me.
Anyone heard of Rachel Corrie?

They demolished the homes of terrorists. West Bank and Gaza are not the same.

I asked what solution you would propose, when the leadership on one side has flat out said it will refuse any option other than the total destruction of the state of Israel and the deaths of Jews.
What do you suggest happens, knowing that this is the reality?

"If Israel would stop demolishing Palestinian homes and creating illegal settlements on land that was not given to them, then maybe things can start to improve as well."
I may well need a brushing up on my history, but as far as "land not given to them..." I mean, come on. These are territories Israel acquired after they were attacked first right? The 6 day war, the Yom Kippur War...Israel did not invade these places as I understand it. Pardon me if this was addressed in an earlier post, I read most but not all. If my facts are correct than the op's above statement is very misleading.
The only good from this thread is that there are actual facts being shared with people unaware of the history. And thank goodness there are intelligent women on here who know their stuff. Truly. I'm hoping this undoes the terrifying ignorance that is underlying here.
I'm going with ignorance, because I can't deal with the possibility that anti semitism may be truly the current beneath this thread.

Maybe to you they can be. But Hamas IS a recognized terrorist group by the country you were born in. The country of which you are a citizen.

Marnie Kimelman was a 17 year old Canadian TOURIST who was killed by a pipe bomb planted by Palestinian terrorists on an Israeli beach.
I knew her. She was a friend of my brother's.

I'm curious, what background are you?
I am Palestinian American. My parents were born there and moved here when they were teens. Growing up we would visit during summers. We lived there between the time I was 12-16 years old. I've been there three times since. I grew up on Long Island. I have many friends that are Jewish. I am not Muslim, I am christian. When i lived there i had some israeli friends. i dont hate jewish people. I am not a very political person so I don't constantly read all the propaganda. Most of what I know is from personal experience.
You know, if you started this thread stating this, and sharing your own personal thoughts based on your experiences, this thread could have gone in a very different direction.

Re: Still support Israel?
My mother's 8 month old cousin was stabbed to death in his crib by Palestinian terrorists.
There has been too much death ON BOTH SIDES. And still, ONLY ONE SIDE continues to hold fast to their charter that calls for death to Jews and the total destruction of the state of Israel.
