Re: Sitting in backseat
I really dont remember when I stopped sitting in the backseat consistently. Probably around 10 months old or so. But you know what...you do what makes YOU feel comfortable. To be honest I STILL sit in the back seat with DS sometimes and he's 2.5 yrs old. He sits back there by himself 5 days a week as I drive about 45 minutes to/from work so I like to be back there with him sometimes when DH is driving

Sitting in backseat
DD is 11 months and I still sit in the back seat. I'm thinking when she goes forward facing in the car seat, I'll stop.

Sitting in backseat
We only did it on the way home from teh hospital or if the little one is crabby and it's somewhat of a long trip wherever we're going.

Never. It builds up an attachment... And would make it hard for me to drive the kids solo. IMO, they need to learn that as the car is moving, everything is on hold!

Re: Sitting in backseat
The only time Ive sat in the backseat with dd was when we brought her home from the hospital and when id have to jump back there when she went through a "im going to cry every time the car slows down" phase
So I personally cannot even phathom having been back there for 8 months

Re: Sitting in backseat
I stopped after 2 weeks. I found that he wouldn't settle down or sleep if I was back there. Once I sat up front he learned how to self soothe (so to speak) and just hang out or nap.

Re: Sitting in backseat
I was going to ask this question yesterday... H is 7w and im still sitting back there... at first i did it because on our way home she puked and she would choke a lot in the first few weeks.... now all i do is stare at her... she keeps the pacifier in 99% of the time on her own.

Re: Sitting in backseat
I never did. Was I supposed to? lol I did hear the nurse telling someone in the NICU to drive home in the backseat with their baby because there was a minor disurbance on her car seat test. They didnt tell me to so I didnt. I just kept reaching back at lights checking and being paranoid. . My fat arse wouldnt fit back there with them anyway. I have the rearview mirrors so I can see them.

Off topic, but they did a carseat check? I basically just got dumped at the curb, lol. DD is 6 months and if DH and I are driving together, I sometimes sit in the back with her, usually on the way home from dr appts. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

This. I'll sit back there if he needs to have a bottle while we are in the car or if he is sick and fussy.

Definitely no right or wrong answer. It's just what you're comfortable with. I was dumped at the curb as well... As long as the baby was getting carried out in a carseat, that's all that mattered!

Re: Sitting in backseat
I stopped around 12 months but here there I sit in the back since she was doing throw-up tantrums she is 2.5 now and it had calmed down a lot so I am back in the front seat. On occasion I will sit in the back if its a long ride so I can feed her snacks.

Agreed.
I sat in the back with DD1 on the way home from the hospital and once in a blue moon when we were on long road trips I would sit in the back for a little while just to keep her company.
Once DD2 came along I don't fit in the back with both carseats.
