Clearly they lost sight of the innocent victims in this, two very young children. I'm sorry Jen their reaction would infuriate me so much I think I would grab the kids and walk out until at least your DH comes to his senses!!!

1. call the police
2. pack DHs bags and tell him to get the F**K out
3. call MIL and tell her that she will NEVER see her grandchildren again

I agree! I can't say I'm surprised at their reactions, but they're so WRONG, and totally missing the bigger picture. How are they not livid at how your DC were treated? Neglectful is one thing, but he was abusive!
Obviously secretly videotaping a family member is not a great idea for family harmony, but in this case, the end justifies the means!
Has anyone spoken to your BIL?

nope.
i spoke with DH.
I told him I wanted to speak to BIL and MIL at the same time.
He said no, tell MIL and let her handle it.
I want to call BIL and tell him what a POS he is. I would have thought my DH would have done that too.
Instead I am getting lectured that I had it out for him.
(If you remember my posts from a few weeks ago I said I didn't feel like he was paying any attention to them and he was on porn sites on my computer)

OMGosh I am so sorry this happened.
I know it's family, but, I'd be reporting this!!
If I were in your situation (DH and MIL mad too) I would have had a bag packed and DS' bag packed and I'd be out of here!
How Dare DH and MIL be angry with you! That is so not fair!!
I wish I lived closer so I can help you out.
Do NOT let BIL near your children ever again.

He was abusive to your children and if this wasn't a family member, I think it's pretty safe to say the police would've been called and charges pressed. I think this should be no different and I would be heading to the preceint with the tape. I'm so upset for you and your kids!

I read this entire thread! I never do that! I'm so upset for you - I would probably be packing my bags and leaving with the kids if my DH decided he was going to take out his anger with his brother out on me. WOW I can't believe that they are saying you had it out for him....if he was leaving a bad taste in your mouth there is nothing wrong with going with your gut...any mother would have done it.
Letting MIL handle it is insane, it's not like BIL is a little kid.
I would speak to BIL and tell him that he was videotaped, you saw everything and that you will no longer allow him around your children unsupervised and that he's lucky that your not pressing charges.
I would speak to DH about the whole situation. I'm sure he's just hurt and shocked that his own brother would treat his children that way and as far as MIL there is absolutely no reason that she should be involved at all.

Quite honestly, I would march myself over to my MIL's house sit her dumbass on the couch and MAKE HER WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO. Make HER sit and watch HER POS son treat YOUR children that way. Then tell her she shoud have done a better job raising her son or else you wouldn't HAVE to videotape him
