I'm miserable with my schedule..it's so unpredictable..ds is 8..typical day:
wake up at 4am sitter comes at 5am. get the train into the city at 521 arrive at work by 630am....on a good day i catch a 412 train out of penn, able to get my son at 510 from after school. Go home, do homework, go to tkd, dinner, bath, make my breakfast and lunch for the next day, get ds clothes and lunch ready for the next day. Bath for him, read and bed by 9pm the latest for him. I'm usually asleep between 10 and 2 1030.
A bad day is when I'm told I have to stay at work late last minute. Then I have to scramble to find someone to get my ds from after school if my ex cant, but luckily his office is flexible and he usually can. If i have to stay at work tooo late, then I have to sleep over because it's just too late and too far at that point to go home. I feel my commute is
so long and I have no hours in the day for me and do things around the house and what not. I wish I could find another job or closer to home, but not an option.
I give you a lot of credit for maintaining this schedule! I am also curious, what do you do? I know that some of my colleagues have also slept in the office! So hard!
I'm a police officer in NYC. I work in the Gramercy/Flatiron area

Re: Spinoff - working moms typical day!
M-W: Wake up at 5. Clean one or two rooms in the house. I do this so I can spend the weekends with my family and have a clean house. Throw a load of laundry in the wash. Normally, I'd work out either before or after cleaning, but I am pregnant and sick so I have been skipping.. I put on the TV and relax after cleaning, eat breakfast. Around 7, My Mom arrives to watch DD so I get DD awake and hang out with her before I have to get ready for work. I am usually in the shower by 7:15 or so. I am out the door by 8. I have to be at work by 8:30.
I get an hour lunch and they are spent either going home to spend time with DD or running errands.
I come home by 5:20, I cook dinner, DD runs back and forth to hang out with me in the kitchen or DH in the den.
We eat at 6. After dinner, DH cleans up, loads the dishwasher. DD and I hang out until around 7ish and then she gets her bath. I bathe her, get her ready for bed. We read every night and she is out by 8-8:30.
on Thurs-Fri: DD is in day care from 8-5. On these days, I repeat the normal schedule, get her up at 6:30, she has her breakfast. I get her ready for school, we hang out until 7:55 and I get her in the car and drive her three blocks away to school. DH picks her up between 4:30-4:45.
On Thursdays and Fridays, my lunch breaks are used for manicures and pedicures. :) But now that I think about it, I never ever relax really. I am always going and don't stop but I have always been this way.
I come home same time and repeat. We usually get takeout on Thursdays or Fridays. Sometimes both. :) Friday nights, we usually spend with our friends that has two kids. Weekends are for family activities, etc.
ETA: I use Peapod as well for my big shopping. During lunch, I go to Target which is near my job for the "everything else stuff." I usually hit the sack by 9ish. I watch my TV and DVR then. I am lucky that DH helps with as much as he can because I couldn't do this all on my own!

I WAH. Wake at 8. Get kids up, dressed, make lunches and snacks, let out dog and feed him. Drop kids at school. Come home/go on appointments depending on the day. Clean/do laundry if home. Pick up kids at 4. Homework, dinner, play then bed. Hang out with my DH. Go to bed about 12 and start over again

Spinoff - working moms typical day!
I wake up at 5:30am and get myself ready. My DH is up first and he gets DS (15 months) ready for daycare. I get myself ready, and then pack up DS for daycare. Hopefully DS sleeps until 620 but the past 2 weeks he's been close to 6 which makes the mornings tough for us. DS hangs out with DH and drinks some milk. I walk the dog and try to leave by 6:45. DH leaves right after to drop DS at daycare and take the train to the city.
I leave work at 3 and pick up DS by 4. If there's no traffic I try to run a quick errand or two. I was trying to run errands on my lunch but parking has been tough by my school. We get home and then take the dog for a walk. I play with DS and try to clean up a little bit and prepare him dinner. I feed him dinner around 530. Then it's bath time. I try to keep him up until 7 but he's been so tired lately I can't keep him up past 630. My DH comes home around 730 and then we eat dinner. Then it's clean up, catch up, and hopefully sleep around 10.
I admire the moms that find time to work out! I'm still struggling with that. But it's all hard. There's always something in my life I'm putting aside.

I feel lucky that my job is close to home and that I have "good" hours...I wake up at 5:45, shower, start lunches and breakfasts, kids wake up around 6:30-7:00...rush around, get everyone fed, dressed, packed and ready for day...I leave the house by 7:50 to drop the baby off at sitter at 8:00...I get to work by 8:30 and work until 3:30...I pick up kids and start my running around...dance, soccer, acting, music lessons...we are usually home by 6:30 most nights and then it's dinner, homework, baths, and then bed for the kids by 7:30. I then clean, pack bags for the next day, and do work that I bring home. I try to be in bed by 10-10:30.

You're schedule isn't far off from mine. The 6:30 or 7 dinner after classes means dinner HAS to be ready to reheat or else it ends up being processed/instant crap.
When and what do you have for dinner?

The nights where I can't get home between drop offs to do a dinner from scratch I either have a crockpot meal going or something that is already 90% prepped and cooked and just needs to be put together and heated. I spend a lot of time cooking on Sundays to try to be ready for the week! We eat almost no take out...I have a loose schedule that I try to stick to (always soup and homemade bread on Mondays, leftovers from Sunday dinner on Tuesday or Wednesday, homemade pizza most Fridays).

Re: Spinoff - working moms typical day!
Love this!
NORMAL DAYS 6am - up / start waking her up 6:30-7am - brush teeth, breakfast, meds, hair is combed and she's dressed. I dress myself in about 5-10mins after she's ready 7am - out of the house to drop her off at school 8am - at work between 5:30-6pm she is picked up by one of us 6pm - get home 6-7pm - homework / bath / spelling word practice / review all graded work / review homework done at school 7-730pm - reading / reading apps (minimum of 15mins each) 730-8pm - pre dinner relax with her favorite netflix 8pm - eat dinner all together 830-9pm - bed time routine, brushing, flossing, meds
I'm free by 9 or 9:15 If I have energy, I catch up on one show then its games, and bed. If not I crash after some gaming.
Odd days are Grocery days (like today) Girl Scout Meetings Office late days Program days (at school) Fridays in general are always odd days
Weekends are jammed packed with action
I don't cook. He does and he does all the dishes We clean on the weekends Our week days are fairly routine because its all about her. I don't care how messy my house is. She's asking questions about milky way and how and where it sits in the universe and how can we find our star in the arm. Our nights are all about curiosity, research and answers. Jokes, laughs and good times.
ETA: she is responsible day for: brushing her teeth flossing every day taking her meds dressing herself for bed putting her shoes on putting her clothes in the laundry setting the table throwing away trash from her book bag finishing her home at school (after care) and home work at home too practicing her spelling words before I get home 15mins reading 15mins reading comprehension app she must make her bed set up her bath stuff dry herself off
Occasionally she'll pick her clothes and or dress herself. Frankly she's like me and just doesn't care as long as it's clean and doesn't match too much. Thank heavens!

I love hearing how other working moms get through their days! Had to spinoff from the other post about SAHM daily routines!
I wake up at 5 am ( go to bed at midnight). Get all 3 kids to sitter alone as husband leaves early! Catch train at 7:15!
Get to work at 8:45! I work in a high stress position, always on the go! No lunch break, etc. get home at 6:30 and scramble with dinner, bath, and food prep for next day. Wrap up around 9:30-10:30 and then do a workout dvd, get my clothes ready, etc until midnight. Wake up at 5 am and repeat!
For a few months each year I am required to increase my billable hours. Get home a little later but then work on laptop for 3-4 hours at night. Dishes stay in sink, clothes stay in machine, etc. it's exhausting!
What about the other working moms out there?
wow i just want to say that you are a trooper! that seems like A LOT all around and you find the energy to work out! Impressive!
Thanks so much! I only Do 30 min DVDs and have kept up with it for 1.5 years now. The past two weeks I have been run down so way too tired to do it!
Loved reading all of the responses!!

This is motivating to hear that someone workouts after 10pm! But I struggle with the fact that adults need 7-8 hours of sleep to stay well but you also stay well when you excercise each day! I swear I hardly get sick because I get quality sleep and excercise but when there is little time I don't excercise and I would MUCH rather sleep so I can function!

Such good points! I get 4-5 hours a night and it has aged me tremendously (appearance wise!) but I usually feel ok and don't get sick either! Survival mode!!! Just recently have I started to feel run down, but I have been doing this for 4 years now! Hope I can shake it! I guess you just get used to a routine! I can do a 30 min DVD at 10:30 pm, but no way could I wake up at 4:30 am to go so!!
