The hospital I go to does not have any pharmacy in it or attached to it.
Hmmmm... maybe its an out of state thing then. I used to work in a Hospital. Pharmacy was on one of the floors.

Yes but like Pill said there are hospitals!
you are again thinking NY...There are rural places with hospitals miles away and no forms of public transportation.
Then how come... for all these supposed WalMarts in "small towns"... for some reason if its a small town... usually the shopping areas are in the boonies like everything else... and are NOT in walking distance. In a small town... you usually have to drive to get to Walmart... no?
Just food for thought. If I live in a small town or in the middle of nowhere... if I am in walking distance to the WalMart... there are probably many other shops in the area as well.
no there arent many other shops. In the citrus world of florida there are acres and acres and acres of orange crops "town" consists of a place like walmart and a gas station sometimes theres even a video store
Ditto. In my home town Walmart drove out all the smaller food stores and pharmacies. It acts as everything now. It's kind of sad to see how they cannibalized everything.

I still keep wondering why WalMart would even choose to put themselves in this position.
what i am wondering is if i scan the product lines that my local pharmacy stocks and find something not sold there
can i sue too?
In america, you can sue for ANYTHING your heart contents.

I mentioned WAY back in the thread that I worked in a town like this - no bus system really, and the hospital was in the next town - about 15-20 miles away, depending on where you lived. This is farm country. When Walmart came to town, they bought up a bunch of farms and built a huge store. They undercut the prices of a lot of the smaller, local businesses and put them out of business. And I only lived there for a year, but I did see a few other types of business go under after Walmart came to town - even KMart.

Re: The Morning After Pill
Posted by Princessmaris Yes and there is no such thing as a min. pymnt @ a hospital...you can mail them 5 bucks a month...
there IS such thing as a minimum payment at the hospital.... but i'm not getting into that...
the point is WHY should someone have to pay Over $750 in fees for something that's considered OTC and should be freely accessible?
hypothetically- if you have a sick child, and you know that all they need is baby motrin- what IF the pharmacy refuses to carry that (or an alternative). so, you're forced to go to the ER ad pay $750 for them to give you something that you already knew you needed?
just not logical to me

I *think* I know why...but im not sure...and as pill said before it would open a whole can of worms!
WalMart is screwed either way.
First off... there is a whole coalition of people that HATE walmart. They will try to stir up ANY controversy they can about this chain. Who knows these three women may have this motive.
Second... lets say they stock the pill. All it will take is all the pro-lifers... or all the mothers of the world to complain saying that WalMart is making it easy for their teen daughters to get out of being pregnant and promoting unprotected sex.
They lose either way.

Re: The Morning After Pill
Posted by DjPiLL Last time I checked... most hospitals had built in pharmacies.
Kinda convienient for them to be together... don't you think?
Hell... theoretically... you can go to the hospital... NOT check in... go right to the pharmacy... and ask for your MAP.
how are you going to get a prescription for your MAP without a prescription?? even with them being in the same place, the Dr's STILL write prescriptions.
the point is.. WHY treat the ER as your own personal pharmacy when you can just go to your Regular pharmacy (which in Many places is WalMart), and get it on your own

Well to me... baby motrin is not aborting an unborn child!

Your point is well taken. But if the pharmacy you want to get the pill at doesn't stock it... you have to move on to the next one. A lawsuit is not the answer.

you have insurance. theres a Big difference. and hospital and Dr's bills payments are expected in full, But, many of them work with the patients to make up a budget plan. $5/month is not a likely plan though

the way i read it, it is prescription, but can be used as an OTC in emergency cases, or if the pharmacist goes through special training to dispense it.
