Re: TTC after MC support thread
THANK YOU .. for writing this.. i have talked to so many women that didnt go with their GUT and ended up miscarrying again.. i feel that some doctors just dont know! its not their bodies and we just have to demand more tests in order for them to take it seriously... it really sickens me... and thats why i feel that some miscarriages can be prevented.. instead they just say "its a fluke" and i DONT want to hear that!! especially after my 16 week MC! therefore, i am doing whatever it takes to make sure i have a healthy baby next time! if i have to see 10 different doctors , so be it!
thanks again for sharing your story
If I can help just one person, then I feel that what I went through was not completely negative. I truly think that I went through multiple m/c to help other women, because the alternative is just too cruel. I am so glad you are standing up for yourself and being your own advocate! I hope you get a healthy pregnancy very very soon!

Re: TTC after MC support thread
To all you lovely ladies who have suffered a loss, many to you. As others have said please take a stand and be advocates for yourselves. Just because an individual had the initials MD after their name, does not always mean they are the right fit for you.
In the end I was fortunate to have my DD after a long road of unexplained infertility, that lasted 3 years and six miscarriages later. Some were early on, (8 weeks) the latest was 11 weeks. Listen to your bodies and don't feel stupid or embarrassed abput calling your doctor if you have a concern.
I wish all of you a happy ending on your journey. much to all

Re: TTC after MC support thread
I wanted to recommend my doctor for you ladies that are discouraged with yours.
My first pregnancy/miscarriage felt like an oil change. They weren't very sensitive towards the whole thing. No follow up phone call/ appt for me. I felt like I pulled a number from the deli counter and was waiting my turn.
I changed doctors for my second and what a difference! He was there for me thru the whole thing. I called him a few times crying before we decided the D&C was the only option. He sat on the phone with me and talked to me like a friend. He had the hospital call me the next day to make sure everything was okay & told me to call him if I needed him that weekend even though it was christmas day! When I met with him for the follow up he was great. He tested the fetus & also sent me for genetic counseling. I know he will be as cautious with my next pregnancy as I will be.
Dr. Kiran Trivedi North Babylon
It's a horrible experience and you definately need someone that will help. I've never been a fan of Male Gyns, but this definately changed my mind.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I had a miscarriage at 6w3d. I did not need a D&C, it all passed naturally after about 2-3 days of heavy bleeding. It took about 2 weeks for my hcg levels to go back to negative.

First off, I am so sorry for your loss. It is an absoluelty devestating thing that I woulld never wish on my worst enemy. It will get easier with time. I promise, but let yourself grieve. I had a m/c and did not have a d&c but I bled for 30 + days. I don't know why but I don't think that is typical. Why would the doctor let you bleed for 8 days and then do a d&c? It doesn't make much sense to me. Most people naturally m/c after that time period so why do the d&c, which doesn't come without risks of scarring or infection?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had my m/c in February. I believe I was just over 5weeks. I did not have a D&C. I bled for about 4-5 days, spotted brownish for a day or 2 & then that was it. My HCG levels were down to zero in about a week. The physical part of it wasn't so bad. The bleeding was about the same as a period & I was only crampy the first day. The emotionally recovery is the hardest. I can't say you'll ever get over it completely (I'm far from that), but the pain does ease. Allow yourself time to grieve. I had a few of the less sensitive people in my life tell me to "stop sulking & move on" and it just doesn't happen that way.
Why is the doctor letting you bleed for over a week before doing a D&C? Are they trying to let you miscarry naturally first or are they definately planning a D&C? It's weird that they'd let you bleed for a while if they already know for sure you'll need the D&C.

I would imagine they'll only do the D&C if they need to, but if I were you, I would make sure. If you've been left to bleed for a week, they should do a sonogram when you go back. When I went for mine, they showed me what was left in my uterus on the monitor. they said there wasn't really much left and that it would pass naturally, I didn't need to have a D&C - I would ask to see it myself. Good luck!

Re: TTC after MC support thread
I m/c in October. After my m/c I found this poem and it really helped me get through some pain.
A pair of shoes - author unknown
I am wearing a pair of shoes. They are ugly shoes. Uncomfortable shoes. I hate my shoes. Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair. Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step. Yet, I continue to wear them. I get funny looks wearing these shoes. They are looks of sympathy. I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs. They never talk about my shoes. To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable. To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them. But, once you put them on, you can never take them off. I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes. There are many pairs in this world. Some woman are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them. Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much. Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt. No woman deserves to wear these shoes. Yet, because of these shoes I am a stronger woman. These shoes have given me the strength to face anything. They have made me who I am. I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.

Re: TTC after MC support thread
I'm feeling a bit better this week than last week, mainly b/c I had my IUI yesterday and everybody in the office really made me feel good this month. They were positive and upbeat, and even fit me into the Sunday schedule at the last minute -- I didn't get in touch with them until 7am Sunday and they told me to come in at 7:30! So now I'm in the 2ww...

Jackie.. i completely understand how you are feeling.. DH and I are still going through it.. we were not technically "trying" either.. but when i got my BFP , it was such a happy moment.. we were not financially ready either.. but we are going to start trying when we can , regardless of being financially ready.. its too much of a risk to keep waiting and something could be wrong with me.. if i keep having MC or what not.. so why dont you sit down with DH and talk to him about all the possibilities.. that you can MAKE it work!! and i also said the same thing.. this time when i get my BFP.. im not telling anyone.. it just hurts more when people keep saying things to you , and make dumb comments.. i learned my lesson.
if you ever want to talk .. please dont hesitiate.. we are going through the same thing together!
