And now Pfizer says a 3rd dose may be needed at the 6 month mark. Good luck policing who is fully vaccinated.
You are missing context. That would be to account for the variants. A "tweaked" shot so to speak.
Pfizer has said they expect a COVID vaccine will be an annual shot as viruses mutate over time.
As for ensuring people are fully vaccinated, what is your concern? Why would someone need to be "policed"? Anyone who wants the vaccine certainly wants to be FULLY vaccinated. Why would anyone half a$$ it?
THIRD SHOT
I mean policing as in making sure all these colleges requiring are going to make sure each student and staff member has all 3 shots. Or do they need them prior to September? Can they get just 2? What about venues, I lost my card so I have no proof. It goes on and on.
And based on my in-laws reaction to the second shot, no way are they going to subject themselves to a third. I doubt they would do it annually.
Just go on news12 on fb and you will see many saying the same thing. They were so sick they won’t do it again as they might say 6-12 months but change their mind in 3 months.
However, MILLIONS would tell you that getting sick for a day or two after a vaccine was worth it especially if it means getting back to normal. A handful of people here and there that wouldn't want the vaccine again will be statistically insignificant.
After you get it, come back and let us know how bad it was compared to the Covid you had and if you would take it more then once at the rate of feeling like you were dying.
Most of my family and friends are now vaccinated. They had flu like symptoms for 24 hrs and then they were fine. Some had no reaction at all. The instances you're speaking to are the extreme, not the norm for reactions.
As for myself, I never want to go through the stress of COVID again without having some level of protection, I'll shoulder the risk of feeling like crap for a day or two in order to be vaccinated.
Go on some pages on fb regarding the vaccines and you will see how many people speak about the extreme which seems to be more normal than you think. I did suggest the News12 site that I posted a link to earlier.
You cannot judge anything about rates of extreme reactions from social media. It's anecdotal.
Someone with an "extreme" experience is going to be more likely to be vocal about it which will skew the numbers.
Even the busiest FB page is going to have a fraction of the people who got the shot commenting.
None of that chatter matters in terms of drawing conclusions.
Yes!!!!!
Over 70 million have been vaccinated, even if a few thousand say they had the worst reaction ever and won't take it again that amount of people is completely insignificant. If millions say the same, which isn't the case, that's another story.
You can read just here on this board the amount of people who talk about how sick they were or friends or family they know.
You want this vaccine SO badly to get you back to normal that you won’t believe that it could be bad for you.
No matter what the number of people are getting sick or having severe side effects, they are humans and should be accounted for and not just a number.
All illness and side effects should worry everyone.
Are you actually this dense or is this just a game you like to play in order to have constant attention on this board?
First, what are you even talking about regarding people not being "accounted for".? That comment is literally meaningless. Everyone who has taken the vaccine regardless of their reaction to it is being "accounted for".
Second, EVERY SINGLE medicine and vaccine on the market, even ones that have been around for ages, have side effects. Period. Are you actually walking around thinking otherwise????? You act like the COVID vaccine is some special circumstance but what you are absolutely failing to get through your head is that ALL medicine comes with risk of side effects. MOST are generally mild, some could be severe but that is ALWAYS the case when you choose to put anything into your body. There is no ZERO risk medicine, vaccination or medical procedure.
Lastly, I don't care if EVERY single registered person on LIF along with EVERY person they know complained about severe side effects from the vaccine because the FACT is that number of people is statistically insignificant when compared to the OVER 70 MILLION people who have received the vaccine. End of story. MOST of the OVER 70 MILLION people are experiencing mild side effects and are not having EXTREME issues.
A few anecdotal cases of people who got really sick isn't enough cases for anyone to stop giving a vaccine that is PROVEN to work. If at some point millions upon millions of those who get the vaccine are experiencing severe and life threatening side effects that will be an entirely different issue. But that is NOT the case, not even close.
Your relentless attempts to undermine a PROVEN vaccine at this point is laughable. Is there risk? Yes. Just like you have pointed out OVER and OVER again, there is risk in life with everything. While you are willing to risk being out in the world with no vaccination, MANY more are willing to risk the minimal side effects of taking a vaccine that will offer them protection and yes, a return to a more normal way of living.
Proven vaccine?! It’s not even a year.
It’s made by companies that have lost so many lawsuits. Right now, they have zero liability and can’t be sued. That scares some of us.
There’s countless things that have been proven safe and later determined dangerous.
How about J&J’s baby powder? But people are willing to get their vaccine and many because you only have to take 1 shot.

I’m kind of here. I think mask mandates still sounds good for now. I think I will be keeping the mask forever during winter months going forward...haven’t been sick in ages and I attribute it to the mask.
I’m still not ready mentally to get on a plane though and I will never eat cake that someone blew candles out on ever again.

Certain vaccines have always been required to go abroad. People act like this is something new.
No one is denying that but the majority of tourist places have not.
Where?? I’ve traveled to a few different countries and have never been asked to provide vaccination records.
Many countries do for Yellow Fever, especially at least half of Africa. Polio is another vaccine required for some countries.
ETA: Ex-H was checked numerous times when he did trips to Saudi and Nigeria. Strangely enough, they didn't check upon returning.
In general, it is recommended to get your boosters done, but they don't check for that.
And not really relevant to this conversation, pets also need to be vaccinated for certain things if you choose to move them internationally. I went through this process moving my cats from Australia to Germany.
I could definitely see countries like Australia and NZ doing mandatory COVID vaccines to enter there. They really don't joke around when you travel there with regards to invasive species and diseases. The checks there are crazy.

I don’t think anyone denied that some countries do require vaccines but for a majority of Americans they probably have never had to show any proof of vaccines to travel and vacation.

This is true with most touristy places. I never had to show vaccinations when I traveled. I did though have to show when I went to China and my daughter had to show when she came back to the United States. I don't think it is enforced but we were asked at the Embassy for her vaccination card. She also had to have a TB test which had to be reported to someone (i forgot who lol), but that was a big test because she was not allowed back if she tested positive for TB.

Mandatory vaccine spin off
I havent read all the comments -- but I will say this....when COVID first happened, people didnt want restrictions and said "if you are concerned, stay home....otherwise I want my freedom." Now that we have the vaccine, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you dont want to take the vaccine, that's fine, stay home if some place requires the vaccine. Cant have it both ways. I got my vaccine and am grateful that, as a cancer survivor, I likely now wont die if I get COVID. feels pretty damn good.

It does seem simple, but then it affects other things such as the price of healthcare and a crumbling healthcare system.
I mean prices are always going to go up, but they seem to be increasing more than usual.

It should be that simple but people have to argue and countermand everything. People won't wear masks and people won't skip seats and social distance. They haven't been doing this since the pandemic started.

Could you imagine if a college suddenly requires the HPV vaccine? A contagious an asymptomatic sexually transmitted disease that can cause a disease with a much higher death rate. Would you be ok with that or just tell them to find a different college? If they can make you get the Covid vaccine just wait, they are going to make you get every vaccine. The line needs to be drawn somewhere. This is not a deadly disease. This vaccine is not stopping the spread (I mean our president is vaccinated and still double masking) it’s lowering the burden on the hospitals so those that at higher risk of hospitalization should be getting it.

College aged people have died from this. Maybe not as a great a percentage, but it can (and has) potentially kill people of any age. And once again, 20-somethings are not the only ones on college campuses.
Also, any comparison to HPV is utterly ridiculous. You can’t get HPV from just being in the same room someone

This virus and all the crap that has gone along with it just shows you how weak minded some people are that they will blindly follow almost anything that is told to them to do. The government and CDC is loving this. This is what they want and the power is never going to end until we stand up and say enough is enough.
I follow an anti vaccine passport group on social media. I do not participate, was just invited by someone but it is interesting to see how many are going into stores all over NY without masks and no one says a word to them.
My child just came back from FL and said how wonderful and freeing it is to go into a store without having to wear a mask.
NY is being controlled by a power hungry lunatic and people are leaving in droves.
If you are afraid I suggest you step away from the fear mongering media.
People will get this virus just like every other virus. We have stopped life and destroyed lives and the media is feeding into all of this as it gives them something to talk about and have control over their audience.

We’re going to have to disagree with this. I believe they are both controversial vaccines for contagious diseases. Both *can* be deadly to that age group.
I was asking a serious question, would you be ok if colleges made that vaccine mandatory? I mean, you are all ok with a controversial mandatory vaccine for a 99% survival rate. It should be masks on campus and that’s it, no mandatory vaccine.

But we keep letting infected people in at the border.
When do you think Biden and Harris will take this serious?
Maybe this week she will go there?

The problem is that just wearing masks on campus is not going to solve any problem. So they wear their masks to class, then go back to their dorms and hang out and have parties with no masks. It defeats the purpose of wearing the mask at all. We can't be wearing masks and social distance for the rest of our lives. Either we need to get the vaccine or accept the risk of getting Covid.

Also, any comparison to HPV is utterly ridiculous. You can’t get HPV from just being in the same room someone
You must be afraid of it at all times, respect the power of this virus! Get the vaccine! Triple madly! Get a third booster!
The amount of stupidity and right wing brainwashing that flows from you is epic. You don't have an actual clue. About anything.

This virus has killed 3 MILLION people in ONE YEAR, and someone is saying this is not a deadly disease? What?!?
My mistake. It’s not a deadly disease for the college age student.

Instead of attacking people that feel differently than yourself, how about either scrolling along or have something to debate or add to the conversation.
