New Moms...How much did you pay out of pocket for delivery?
a question on the pregnancy board made me think...i know insurance doesnt cover everything and i know everyone's insurance is different but how much did you end up having to pay for your time in the hospital with birth and all?

nearly $8k for both mom and baby, but DS was in the NICU. vaginal delivery.

With my job's insurance, it's just under $4K out of pocket for labor/delivery.
With my DH's insurance, it's $0.
It can vary so much insurance to insurance.

I have POS Aetna I have a 500 deductible i paid 1300 for c section out of pocket then 600 for anestesia bill and then about 300 in dr bills between ds and me around 2200

My insurance is a cost sharing plan so the deductibles get me....my cost was very little but DS was a little more....all in all I paid about $3-$4k out of pocket.

so far all we had to pay was $250 which was the deductiable. i know there was couple things that had to be reprocessed cause DD was in NICU and somethign wasnt processed correctly so we shall see. But according to the insurance company we should not have to pay anythign else.

it should have been ZERO...we have Empire NYSHIP...but because we were "late" in reporting that I had given birth, I got charged a penalty of $200...which I disputed...and LOST

same as us $250 deductible for my DD's admittance. other than that everything was covered, hospital had to rebill or fix bills but we didn't have to pay anything else opt of pocket.

With my DS, it was a $150 deductible.
With DD, the deductible was $300.

Once we met our $600 deductible I think we only paid like $200.
BUT I wanted a private room and that was $225 a night...sooo worth the $675

$0 we have United Healthcare- I didnt have an epi though, I think if I had it would have been more
the hospital did bill my insurance company $36,000 which I thought was obscene for 36 hours for ds and I!!!!!!!!!!

I have a $500 co-payment that my employer reimburses me for, so nothing.
ETS: Ryan was in the NICU and one of the MDs that saw him didn't take our insurance (we were told after the fact) so we had to pay almost $1K for that one visit

$250 hospital stay co pay. after that, nothing. My insurance co was billed over $17K though for my c section and hospital stay!

I was charged $600 but ended up paying $400. My son has a couple minor issues at birth and I adked his ped to see him. DS's ped did not have hospital priveleges and he made we aware of it but I wanted him to treat DS since he was going to be the ped.
Since the hospital has a ped they charged me. I disputed it and paid for some of the tests.
I would not have had to pay anything if didn't make the mistake with peds.

Mine was zero w/ NYSHIP...AND DS was in the NICU for a week!
