vaginal delivery, no epi, just a little pitocin:
$500 for the midwife
$900 for the hospital
$200 for DS's hospital
$40 for DS's circ
so about $1600 total.
I think the total before insurance adjustments was pushing $30k, which just astounds me since me or DS required nothing extra. I didn't even need the pitocin, I came in for my induction already in labor. 
We had the Health Savings account type insurance when I had DD and all we paid were a couple co-pays of $20.

Nothing, for both deliveries we didn't pay a penny. Both were c- sections and my first DS was in the NICU for 6 weeks, with expenses over half a million dollars

it should have been ZERO...we have Empire NYSHIP...but because we were "late" in reporting that I had given birth, I got charged a penalty of $200...which I disputed...and LOST
That s ucks! I have disputed various things with them and lost almost all of them. I have the same insurance and paid zero.

my advice to you. . .every time you get a bill, call up and fight it -- you don't even have to be confrontational, just ask them to check it for you. I was getting bills daily and only paid for the first two that I got!
DITTO!
1 year since and we still haven't paid a thing, except the fee to the OB for cord blood.
We've been billed varying amounts and everything we ask them to check it changes and we are still waiting for clarification on some weird things on the bill.

the hospital did bill my insurance company $36,000 which I thought was obscene for 36 hours for ds and I!!!!!!!!!!
just FYI
the hospital never gets paid what they bill, the average payout is something like 15% of what they bill. The are so many complicated reasons why they bill crazy like that, I don't even want to go into it.
You can always negotiate with the hospital/doctor on the price your paying out of pocket, Most places would prefer you the pay something than pay nothing because you can't afford it.

Mine was zero w/ NYSHIP...AND DS was in the NICU for a week!
Mine too!! I was in hops 4 days being induced, wound up with csection and DD was in NICU for a week. Out of boredom I was looking in insurance book and saw if you don't call early you have a fee. DH reminded me to call...so ridiculous!

hmm...let me think...my husband handles all of this so it could be off a little...
we have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
$600 for the hospital
$300 for the drugs (demerol and epidural)
$100 for circumcision
and $600 for a week in the NICU
wow you ladies paid nothing and had empire!! whats good with my plan!!

I did not pay a penny my entire pregnancy or delivery. I just had to call Empire 48 hrs after birth.
