Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
My DH and I go to a LOT of places - camping, out of state, etc... and many times I have gone with 3 kids while he was alone in the car. We don't always follow each other - sometimes we have different schedules. I don't find it that odd.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I don't know, I just don't believe that anything happened to her medically and I don't believe that she had a fight or found out her husband was having an affair etc., I believe that she had done this before, she probably had smoked pot and driven, probably had had some drinks and driven previously in her life and this time was no different. I do think that *maybe* she did have tooth pain and smoked more to help ease the pain if it is true that she couldn't find any over the counter pain meds thinking it would help ease the pain until she got home. I just think that the alcohol and the pot mixed together sent her too far drunk and buzzed to think clearly enough to stay put and not drive, who really knows? But the toxicology reports are factual and for that I don't believe anything happened to her that she didn't voluntarily participate in

OK.
i want to share something about pot.
Don't ask me how I know this
Pot really doesn't make you crazy or irrational.
Pot mellows the sh*t out of you.
Pot makes you want to eat peanut butter and chocolate smothered onto potato chips.
Pot doesn't make you speed into oncoming traffic.
Pot mixed with something may do something else. Even though I know nothing about pot I REALLY don't know what pot does when mixed with vodka. If anything were to blame here, I would say it would be the alcohol more than the pot, or the alcohol combined with the pot.
And, while we are throwing everythng to the wall to see what sticks, if she has had weight issues she was struggling with - maybe she was taking diet pills? Those are basically speed. Which can make people go apesh*t.
Out of ALL the things in her system, pot really does not make people do anything that crazy.

when you smoke pot in excess and drink in excess in can cause blurred vision, etc. not proud to say I have experience with it, but I have had that reaction where I am drunk and have that blurred tunnel vision buzz and if I had driven, I would have caused an accident for sure...so I do think when she mixed the 2 in high doses and we have seen in the toxicology reports that they can absolutely cause that reaction....it's just such a shame all those childrena and innocent people

Yeah - I have never been much of a drinker, so I can't speak from that experience....

Thats what I thought as well. But in the video she certainly doesn't seem drunk. She walks straight and doesn't stumble. The ME said about 10 drinks were in her stomach, so she could have had 5 and seemed normal I guess? Does anyone know how long it was between the gas station and the crash?

I don't think so because on the video it shows her go back near the drink area. If she was looking for those, she probably would have went right to the counter when she went in there since they would probably be with the cigarettes right? I don't smoke, so I don't really know, but just guessing.
I am leaning toward asking for a bathroom now, since a witness saw her leaning over like she was going to get sick near the bridge. I know a lot of gas stations have them, but don't let customers use them.

The scene with the SIL smoking a cigarette and she said "no one in my family knows I smoke cigarettes, this should be interesting..." If no one knows she is a smoker then they very well have not known that Diane was a drinker!
The SIL also said, "It's 5 o'clock. I need about 100.... cigarettes." I think she was going to say drinks but thought better of it. There is too much that isn't being said and I don't believe that the only thing poor bryan is saying is that his mommy's head hurt and she couldn't see. I think that's what he's been encouraged to say or that is what is being attributed to him by his dad and aunt.

I don't think the pot made her go crazy. I am trying to figure out what she was looking for in the store. It doesn't make sense that she was looking for Tylenol or Advil - that's available everywhere. She had to be looking for something else. Maybe it was diet pills, rolling papers, I don't know but the theory that it was rolling papers hadn't crossed my mind.

I have another question and sorry if already answered- Daniel and Diane both left the camp at the same time that fatal day?
I believe they left at the same time but went different directions. It's possible Danny left a few moments ahead though. Danny said he could not take the Parkway because of commercial tags on his truck.
Diane left and took the kids to McDonald's for breakfast alone. It always bothered me that he didn't go along to help out. It also bothered me that they didn't chose a route to follow each other. It just seems odd that a husband would not follow his wife and kids. Everyone I know would follow.
Although, the statement that he never wanted kids may explain this. He may not like kids at all and did not want to deal w/ them at breakfast or driving to and from the campsite (hence 2 cars). Maybe he had had enough of the kids over the weekend?
My dh said the same thing. Why would he not follow her. You never know if someone would get a flat tire or have a problem. He couldn't imagine just leaving me by myself to drive alone and not following one another.

I watched the video last night and YES, the person said he survived because he was under the girls.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
Who knows what really happened? And it looks as if we'll never really know.
My theory is a simple one--she was a closet drinker and hid it well. Depending upon their work schedules, it is possible her husband didn't really know much about it or he denied what he saw. Tonight, tomorrow, and the next night I'll probably see my husband for an hour, and he'll go to bed before me. If I wanted to, I could drink myself silly the rest of the night and he would not know.
I think she drank that morning and it affected her badly. Maybe the combination of alcohol and pot was not a good one for her, maybe the pot was strong, or maybe she had stuff in her system from the night before, I don't know.
Also, I don't find it that odd that they drove separately. Their schedules may be different, and she had a lot of children in the car, so they probably needed two cars anyway.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
This was just on again. I noticed in pictures of one of the other vehicles...I think it was an SUV....that the driver's seatbelt didn't even look affected at all, no blood all over it like the rest of the front seat.....like it wasn't even worn, and they did mention the passenger was hanging out the window. Was it ever said if the other victims were wearing their seatbelts? I know it doesn't really matter at this point, but never understand why people don't wear their seatbelts

The kids were all wearing seatbelts. At least 1 was in a child's seat (can't remember how many child seats were in there).

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
Looking for the bathroom is a good thought. I never thought of that at all. I was thinking more along the lines of hard liquor was what she was looking for.
Also, I find it odd that she pulls up to the pump but doesnt get gas. You can see in the footage that straight ahead of her there are yellow lines to park the car. I never pull up to the pump to go in the store if I am not pumping gas. Also, why would she leave all those kids in the car. An 8 year old is not old enough to be responsible for even just a minute. So either she was already not thinking straight, had already planned out what she was going to do for whatever reason or something else.

No Way bathroom... IF i remember correctly from the show... The gas station was like across the street maybe 3 mins from Mc Donalds (AGAIN if I remember correctly) Why wouldn't she just use the bathroom in the Mcdonalds?!??!?

There are still some things I cannot explain away. When did she have time to drink and smoke so much that morning? Why both Brian and one of the girls said Diane had a headache and couldn't see? Why the witness said she pulled over at the rest stop and acted like she was sick to her stomach? What she was looking for when she went in and out of the gas station so fast? It doesn't make sense, makes me want to believe there WAS something medically wrong. I DO think though that Daniel is very shady and is totally hiding key information that would shed a great deal of light on what happened.
I don't think it's odd the kids said she hada headache. If I was drunk or hungover I would tell my kids I have a headache or I don't feel well. Do 8 year olds know what a hangover is?

I beg to differ.
There are people who have very severe reactions to pot.
I know someone who cannot smoke pot of any kind because it makes them incredibly sick, paranoid, and batsh!t crazy - whether it's been laced with something or not. They have never had a "mellow" pot experience in their life.
Just an FYI

I totally agree with this. Plus, pot mixed with alcohol is completely different from pot by itself.

But... They don't smoke it all the time or nightly to relax and go to sleep... if they know they would have that type of reaction... Right? If that were the case, someone would have noticed her behavior years ago since the family have already said she has smoked previously... If she had severe reactions, I think this would have been noticed before... KWIM?
