Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I also believe that Danny said or did something that set Diane off that day. He'll never say it though. Maybe that's why he is so desperate to find other answers, to remove the guilt from himself.
With that said, Diane chose to drink and smoke pot during the drive home w/ all of those kids in the car. Those were HER actions that led to this great tragedy and hers alone.
There are other ways to deal w/ life's problems.

Did Daniel have to give permission for those photos of Diane to be shown?
I read somewhere that he did and was paid extra for allowing them to use the photos. Another reason he disgusts me.
Diane made bad choices that killed innocent people. Showing photos of her dead body at the scene was not necessary and not done by a loving spouse.

I see, even worse than I thought. Using the title also of the Hance's child last conversation was also in bad taste I thought. I did see on one of the early morning shows that the documenatry maker regretted that part

I saw that too. I don't think she really regretted it. What else could she say? How could she not realize it would cause pain? It was for shock value and ratings ... like the photos.
That's just my opinion though.

I believe they left at the same time but went different directions. It's possible Danny left a few moments ahead though. Danny said he could not take the Parkway because of commercial tags on his truck.
Diane left and took the kids to McDonald's for breakfast alone. It always bothered me that he didn't go along to help out. It also bothered me that they didn't chose a route to follow each other. It just seems odd that a husband would not follow his wife and kids. Everyone I know would follow.
Although, the statement that he never wanted kids may explain this. He may not like kids at all and did not want to deal w/ them at breakfast or driving to and from the campsite (hence 2 cars). Maybe he had had enough of the kids over the weekend?

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I was confused because I think in the documentary the woman who ran the campgrounds that day said they left together
another oddity was the phonecall where the brother in law is on the phone with the police and he keeps asking Daniel for information and Daniel is quiet. I think the BIL gets annoyed. I have to watch it again to verify but the program upset me so much and stayed with me since

A lot of things have been confusing and conflicting. Danny has changed his story so many times about a lot of stuff.
I think Warren was getting upset because Danny wasn't answering his questions to help find Diane and the kids.
You could hear Warren say "Danny, are you w/ me?" Apparently he wasn't responding to the questions at all.
Danny came out and said that he didn't know anything until he got a call after the accident. The LE tapes proved that a lie. Warren had called him to tell him what was going on and trying to get info from him to help. Why lie about that?

I dont find it odd that he would go directly home and not follow. She was clearly a "strong" woman. It was a nice day out. She was familiar with the ride. She was a very SELF SUFFICENT woman. And besides, he had the dog in the car. He couldn't leave his dog alone in a vehicle while everyone ate breakfast and played on the playground. Plus she had to go to her brother's to drop off the girls on the way home. She still lived about 40 mins from there so what was he supposed to do, follow the whole time?
So why not just head home? I think many people make too much of him driving home.

That could be true. We just don't know. My husband said he would have at least followed us most of the way just in case there was a problem. Some people may think differently though.

I'd also like to say that I have my own opinions; but, that doesn't mean they are always right.
It doesn't mean the opinions of others are not also important ... because they are.
I often change my mind while reading other's opinions too.
If I offend anyone, I do apologize. It is not my intention at all.

I dont find it that odd either that he didnt follow her the entire trip. If it was a trip I've done many times before I could see myself telling DH to go ahead while I got breakfast and stuff. Especially nowadays when everyone has a cell phone if needed.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
There are still some things I cannot explain away. When did she have time to drink and smoke so much that morning? Why both Brian and one of the girls said Diane had a headache and couldn't see? Why the witness said she pulled over at the rest stop and acted like she was sick to her stomach? What she was looking for when she went in and out of the gas station so fast? It doesn't make sense, makes me want to believe there WAS something medically wrong. I DO think though that Daniel is very shady and is totally hiding key information that would shed a great deal of light on what happened.

There are a lot of things I can't explain either. Take the gas station ... the cashier refused to speak to police (maybe he had a history, didn't trust cops, didn't want to get involved, or just didn't remember). Yet, the PI claims the clerk did speak to him and said that Diane was looking for Tylenol or Advil. I can't imagine a store like that not having at least one of those. Even the small stores near me have these along w/ antacids, cold meds, ect. Is that normal for gas stations in NY to not carry those?
Her trip should have taken less than an hour, yet she crashed 4 hours after leaving camp? Several claimed to have seen her pulled over and out of the car as if she were getting sick.
Did the alcohol or pot make her sick to her stomach? We know she stopped at McDonald's, the gas station, a couple of rest areas, and on the side of the road. It could have been at any of those places that she drank or smoked pot.
I don't think she was drunk early ... at least not extremely drunk. Maybe had a hang over and drunk a little to ease it and it got out of control?
Diane having a headache could have been from a hang over. The tunnel vision could have been from the alcohol and pot and could also have caused a headache.
I would love to believe there was some medical condition; but, I can't. They didn't find any evidence of a stroke, embolism, infection from a tooth, or other medical problem in the autopsy.
I tried to believe in so many different reasons; but, none of those reasons explain the alcohol or pot in her system.
I get the feeling something happened that weekend. It ate at her on the drive home. Then she drank too much and smoked too much pot (maybe by accident ... I don't know). Did she feel caught when the girls called their dad? Could she not live w/ everyone knowing her secrets? I just don't know.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I guess I just felt like from what all her friends and family and co-workers said, she didn't seem like the type to put 5 children's lives in jeopardy, no matter what was going on in her life. She "seemed" so responsible, like she lived to be a mother. It's so hard to understand how you could consciously make the decision to drive 5 children like that. If she wanted to commit suicide she could have just driven into a tree, she didn't have to drive for miles and miles. I (along with everyone else) just can't wrap my brain around it. What on earth could Daniel and Diane have discussed that could precipitate this? In the pictures from the weekend, they all looked so happy. Even if he said he was having an affair, or wanted a divorce - hell, go home and divorce him and take everything - she was the breadwinner after all. I guess I'm trying to rationalize something that is totally and completely irrational.

Re: "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"
I don't think Daniel asked for a divorce either. He had it made. Diane was the bread winner. Diane took care of the kids, the house, the bills, everything.
It was stated that the only thing they had conversations about were him cleaning the gutters and doing yard work. It left me wondering just how much he actually knew about his wife ... at least in the last few years.
A control freak would most definitely hide any problems they had, such as alcohol and drugs. It was as if Diane wanted everyone to believe she was the perfect mom (supermom in fact), wife, executive, etc. As it seems, that is how many did perceive her.
I have no doubt that this all came as a great shock to everyone that knew her. Maybe even to Danny, although, I have to believe he had some idea if not the full extent.
I feel that if something did happen that weekend, it was more likely that Diane found out that Danny was having an affair; and, she could not deal w/ that. Was he having an affair w/ his brother's wife Jay that has stood by his side through all of this?
Was Danny w/ another woman the Thursday before they went camping and Diane found out? He was supposed to go to the campsite on Thursday to set up and do some solo fishing. Ezpass records prove he didn't go through the toll until 6:29am Friday morning. Where was he Thursday night?
Danny told law enforcement he went to the campground on Thursday. Diane was already dead at this point. Why lie?
A part of me feels very bad for Diane; but, there are no excuses for the decisions she made that day. I believe she felt she had to be perfect, maybe to the extent that the expectations were beyond reason. If only she had reached out for help.
I don't want to believe this was a murder/suicide; but, if she felt she had lost all control (which to her could have been life shattering) would she have been pushed far enough to end it all?
If that were the case, why not stop and leave the kids somewhere and run into a brick wall instead of endangering others?
Even through all of the lawsuits, I think all we will ever have is theories. I think Danny's shady ways and delusional theories only feed into the horrendous theories of what took place that day.

With someone as reserved as she seemed to be, I wouldn't be surprised if one thing just sent her over the edge and she lost it. I mean come on, do you know a single friend that never speaks of anything private with you? And they always say you can never know what goes on behind closed doors.

I understand what you are saying completely. As a mother, I can't imagine how she made the decisions she made that day.
Maybe she was a closet drinker and drug user. Maybe she thought she could handle it and it got out of control. Maybe she couldn't allow anyone to see her like that and admit that she lost control, especially when she was in charge of 5 children.
I just don't know.

I agree. They stripped away what little dignity Diane had left when they showed those photos. It wasn't necessary.
I don't think Danny is trying to clear Diane's name for her ... more for himself. It seemed to me, while watching the documentary, that Danny hates Diane for what she did. I kind of feel like it was his slimy way of stripping away the little dignity she had left.
As a control freak, I imagine Diane would have been extremely angered and humiliated that those photos were taken, much less shown on TV for millions to see.
Maybe that was Danny's intention; or, maybe he just wanted the money they offered for the photos. Either way, it was not the actions of a loving spouse trying to clear his wife's name. JMO

I am obsessed with finding out what she said on the phone to her brother. Do we know what he told the police? If I remember correctly it was very vague but I think it was an 8 minute conversation.
I keep wondering about this. I think about how his reaction is to go to the police and he sounds sooooo panicked. Something more than, "There's something wrong with Aunt Diane" had to have been said or the brother might have known that she had this tendency.
I really think she was a closet drinker. I think they had a fight that morning and she drank thinking that she could make it home. I can't accept the suicide theory yet (although it is very plausible). It's just too gruesome.
