I even chuckled at that one, but you see in a perfect socialist society, everyone would have their own cookies and no one would want any more.
ETA: you people go and try to live in a socialist undertoned society (as pure socialism wouldn't ever happen here) and get back to me. KTHXBYE. Socialism is just another fear tactic that has been used- open your eyes.

the media is in the bag for obama. it's beyond ridiculous. if that had been sarah palin, the media would have been all over it.
exactly - because he is being made into an overnight celebrity and the media and hollywood is all over him!

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....
Posted by Deedlebug126 A lot of us are Democrats who for the first time in our voting lives have to change parties
That's me. I have never voted republican. Yes, I am pro life, but that comes from my very traditional Catholic beliefs more than my political views. I voted for Gore and Kerry, and was very upset when both lost. But at this point in time, I truly believe that McCain is the better man for the job. I agree with his take on issues when it comes to immigration, the war, the economy, health care, and even the pro-life. Are they perfect? NO. I do not think he would be an amazing president. But really, who is? It is not about attacking Obama, but disagreeing with Obama's views contribute to why we are voting McCain. Do I 100% believe that Obama will cause the US to become a socialist country? No, I don't. But is the fact that it is a possibility with him, and not with McCain- well, yes that sways my vote. So, it's not that we can't say good things about McCain or why we support him, it's just that some of those reasons do have to do with Obama's policies.

the problem with that is that SOME people do all the work to get them and the gov't takes them away and gives to those that dont even TRY to get them on their own

A socialist program would not be a program that props up capitalism when it fails, but one that transforms the economy. None of Obama's proposals do that.

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....
Posted by bluegreen08 This thread was to see if McCain supporters could say positive things about him rather than just bash Obama.
Four out of all these posts answered your question...that's a shame.
There were a couple of people who agreed with a "ditto" or "ITA" or something to that effect but sadly only four actually gave reasons as to why they support the McCain/Palin ticket.
To the OP, I think there are supporters who will focus on the positive of their candidate of choice and then there will be those who would rather focus on the "negative" of the opposing candidate. Heck, just look at some of the avatars floating around. There are some that are positive for their candidate and then there are others that just bash the opponent.
It is what it is and there's nothing you can do about it. I think it's nice that you tried to post a thread that could have been positive but unfortunately, it didn't really work out that way.

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....
I don't really identify with either of the major parties, I believe I'm more of a libertarian. I'm supporting Sen McCain because I feel he will 1) never take away my right to bear arms 2) always demand respect and honor for our troops and keep America safe 3)keep federal government small, we have too many layers of government & I don't need or want big brother to make every choice in life for me 4)I believe he will always encourage bipartisan efforts to improve our country-I'm confident he will NOT be a puppet for his party, he's already proven that. 5)Senator McCain understands that we need small business growth & job development 6) his expectations of most people needing to be responsible & accountable for their own finances & decisions is exactly how I feel 7) I think any 70+ year old man that can keep the same scheduale as a man in his 40's is in excellent physical & mental health. 8) although I don't believe in everything his party stands for, I do believe he is one of the most dedicated patriots that has been involved in politics in our lifetime. 9) see my avatar
I truly believe that if McCain is not elected our country is going to spiral downward to a place we've never been that will forever 'CHANGE' the fabric of our country.....and NOT in good way.

I think I incorporated both - why i am voting for McCain and voting against Obama. I am a registered Democrat and this will be also the first time I am voting for a Republican president, so i think i needed to include why I am voting against party lines. I never thought I would have to say this, but if the democratic party continues to go so far left, I am going to change my party affiliation.

Because I lived in a Socialist country and so far France is not Communist, far from it actually.
