Even the Cookie Monster dislikes Obama, he is yelling at him because Obama wants to take all his cookies and give them to the people who dont have cookies, even though Cookie Monster worked hard for those cookies.
Cookie Monster no like Socialist. "He want my cookies"

I even chuckled at that one, but you see in a perfect socialist society, everyone would have their own cookies and no one would want any more.
ETA: you people go and try to live in a socialist undertoned society (as pure socialism wouldn't ever happen here) and get back to me. KTHXBYE. Socialism is just another fear tactic that has been used- open your eyes.
Wow, I didnt realize you were a McCain supporter There are plenty of other posts where you can go and airhump Obama, Kthxbye
And no my dear, its not a fear tactic, My eyes are open and what I see is very very bad
yeah, ok that went right over your head.

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....
Why does every political thread on this board turn into a big pi$$ing match? People here expect more details & confirmed facts than they expect from the candidate they so valiantly support.
Can we ever just stick to the topic?

Could you name examples of what you are saying? it is the deterioration of the power of the people it is how the power moves AWAY from the people and them having their own rights and into the hands of the government to 'redistribute" as they see fit
I am actually asking for actual facts of countries that have fallen in this category.
Because I lived in a Socialist country and so far France is not Communist, far from it actually.
So I am really interested in being given actual examples.
I don't have an example of a capitalist country that turned socialist and eventually communist. All I am saying is that the philosophy of socialism is closer to the philosophy of communism (from each according to their ability, to each according to their need) so eventually over time it may be easier to slide further and further away from capitalism.

what is this economics class? LOL You didnt ask for examples but it is a MOVE in that direction - I answered your question
The poster I quoted wrote that Socialism lead to Communism so I asked to give me an example of such countries. Not some hypothetic scenario of what could have/should have/would have.

Several things making me lean towards McCain. Some of them are:
1. His unquestionable and complete loyalty and service to his country - both while in the military and Vietnam, and his many years as senator.
2. His understanding of the need for small businesses to be allowed to be profitable and to remain in the US and the fact that he does not believe that "tax the rich" is the answer to every problem.
3. His repeated emphasis on the need to cut frivolous spending.
4. His understanding that although the war in Iraq is unpopular and everyone wants the troops to come home, to simply "pull out" without planning would be detrimental to the security of the US.
5. I feel confidence in his leadership and experience. I think the "real" McCain is the person he was in past years and that he has not accurately portrayed his "true" views on issues during this campaign. Unfortunately for some reason he feels he has to pander to his constituents.
6. Yes I am pro choice, however, I cannot be held hostage by a candidate on one social issue.
very well said...I agree with this word for word. Except...I am pro life.
ITA word for word as well, but I am pro-life too.

not everyone numbered their answers and the first poster and I did, but there were several that did answer the original question and give their reasons
I literally counted 4 people (including yourself) who gave actual answers. I didn't count people who just wrote "ditto" as I don't think that's really sharing "their" POV but rather just parroting what someone else said.
Seriously, if you go back to the first page you'll see only four people really answered the questions with or without numbering their "line items".

I'm pretty sure that vast majority of supporters on BOTH sides would find enough similarities in another person's list of line items to want to quote it.

Communism is far from Socialism. It is extreme left wing.
But would you consider Nazis who are extreme right wing the same as Republicans who are also right wing? I don't and they are both right wing.
Extremes are never good in either side.
We can't really make such allegation. It's stretching the truth.

Wow talk about rude! I guess those that live outside of the US don't count.
My vote doesn't count b/c I don't live in the US? Where is the logic in that? I am still a citizen, and actually I am here right now. But I suppose because I've moved that doesn't make me equal to you.

Im not going to keep saying HOW socialism leads or CAN lead to communism. I already explained that it is taking the "pursuit of happiness" away from the people
people dont have the RIGHT to own a home - you have to WORK for it and EARN it
If everyone thinks socialism is so great, there are plenty of other countries for you to choose from.

The basis upon which I made my claim is my opinion based on the knowledge I have about each system. I am sure many people disagree and that is fine - that is why we have these threads. I did not mean to imply that it is inevitable that the US will be communist. I am not trying to scare anybody any more than Obama supporters are trying to scare everybody into thinking that if McCain wins, he will definitely die and Sarah Palin will be President and everyone will move to Canada. I wholeheartedly agree with you that extremes are bad, including both the right extreme AND the left extreme. I don't see McCain as an extremist but I do see Obama as one. Which is all fine - perhaps some people want the US to move towards socialism, but I don't.

I hear you but its 11:00 on Sunday night & the thread was hijacked by page two with the same old $hit. I think people know that any McCain thread, no matter how many times the author says"don't say anything bad about Obama" will become the same fight. Its getting old.

I'm just surprised that there weren't more answers.
Instead this thread turned into a pizzing match when it could have been the perfect place for McCain/Palin supporters to "showcase" why their candidate is so great.
And honestly, why do you ALWAYS turn it negative and about Obama supporters??
I didn't bring Obama into this thread, you did. Why?
Worry about spreading the GOOD WORD about YOUR candidate of choice.
I don't get that about you.

I think we did, most of us are pretty darn serious about who we are voting for by now and dont need to go on and on to prove our point and position. Sorry but to us McCain supporters, Obama is a very very bad choice for many many reasons.

Funny because none of us; including Obama supporters used the word "Great" or even closed our reasons with "and that is why he is so great!"
it is who we each feel more comfortable voting for
