Threads like these really make me believe there are enough people in this country that want to be overpwered by government & have everyone think alike. Its freaky!

I'm pretty sure that vast majority of supporters on BOTH sides would find enough similarities in another person's list of line items to want to quote it.

My point is that they just kept repeating one another... So there aren't more than a handful of reasons to support their candidate?

I have a BIL who can go on for hours as to why he supports the McCain/Palin ticket. The posters here merely scratched the surface.

I was just surprised there weren't more diverse answers.

Jennie, Have you seen the Obama supporter threads??? If I see another Quoted post with the response "Exactly!!!!!!!", I wll scream

I'm not saying it doesn't happen on Obama threads I'm saying here, a thread is posted asking McCain supporters to share what they like in their candidate and all I can see is four people give actual reasons.

I was surprised by that.

Also, I'm perplexed as to why McCain supporters would drag Obama into a thread that was specifically asking for McCain points.

Again, I would think the McCain supporters would rather a thread that's just all about McCain. No?

YES! this is what i was saying the other day! they want government to be in control of everything! How they obtain what they need, how they think, just follow each other - taking power away from themselves. They WANT government to do everything for them - Socialism

Socialism leads to communism.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could you name examples of what you are saying?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it is the deterioration of the power of the people
it is how the power moves AWAY from the people and them having their own rights and into the hands of the government to 'redistribute" as they see fit

No because you need to compare certain issues. I support McCain for numerous reasons one of them being, I do not want to live in a Socialist country (see McCain doesnt support Socialism and if I just wrote that, people would be confused because Obama doesnt just come out and say he supports Socialism, his agenda's do)

i understand what you are saying but it is normal and natural as someone already said to COMPARE candidates so that is why his name was brought into this -
Many of us have also said that this is our 1st time voting outside of our party so it is for reasons of NOT liking the other that we choose the one we did.

I think we did, most of us are pretty darn serious about who we are voting for by now and dont need to go on and on to prove our point and position. Sorry but to us McCain supporters, Obama is a very very bad choice for many many reasons.

It's already understood McCain supporters feel Obama is a bad choice.

But the OP was asking for McCain supporters to explain what they like about McCain. NOt what they dislike about Obama.

I think you'll agree there's a difference between the two points, right?

I would have thought that maybe they would have given their reasons for voting for McCain to perhaps sway the undecided voters on the board.

Instead, it turns into a bash fest of Obama, which just might have the opposite affect to the undecideds.

I understand what you are saying but not necessarily - it could be as simple as totally disagreeing with everything that the other person stands for - period

Yes see above, I thin, McCain is a better candidate becaue he is not in favor of Socialism... Now If I left it at that people wouldChat Icon because again, Obama doesnt say "Hey what I want to do with my economic plan is turn this wonderful nation into a Socialist nation" So I need to clarify

I think the OP was looking to be informed... she wasn't asking for McCain supporters to "justify" why they like their candidate. She wanted (as did I to be honest) to understand where they're coming from.

That's all... I don't think there was any malintent to her question.

Well it turns to bashing for some people, especially when you say their vote doesn't count, even though they are American, because they don't live in the US. Sorry, but that was a personal attack for some, IMO.

in terms of trying to "sway" the undecided voters - if anything; maybe there are people that dont really know or understand what socialism is

maybe there was some clarification

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....

First of all IF we want to split hairs which apparently we do...The OP asked for McCain supporters to post, but by page one there were Obama supporters commenting & questioning the opinions of the supporters, and by the end of page one there were more than 4 people that listed or added to a list.
So really, how would you like us to stay on topic?
Can someone more intelligent or well versed in politics or message board etiquette please enlighten me?
Its really a crying friggin shame how unable this community is to be fair or reasonable.
