Wow.. just wow.
I had a long reply but realized I'd probably burn to the stake for it. But this sentiment is just.. sad.
I have always known since I was a child that my father worked or my step mother worked FOR our insurance benefits. You get a job to pay for medical (god forbid something happens). I dont know... How silly of them to teach me that there's no free rides in this world.
Apparently there are.
ETA: I owe $375 for last year's medical and will owe at LEAST $500 for this year's medical (outside my premium payments, HRA and FSA) so I can send you my doctors address if you want pick that up.
But that's the problem. Why are insurance benefits something that's provided by the employer in the first place? Why is that the common practice here in the US and not elsewhere.
I imagine that employers would want the govt to take over and provide universal healthcare so they can stop having to pay for those benefits directly.

Yes, people taking care of each other is SAD.
It's SAD, y'all.
This is why our country is going to hell in a handbasket. We're going backwards instead of making progress and the mindset has never been more clearly ME ME ME.
Bottom line is that we are supposedly one of the greatest nations in the world yet we do not take care of our own citizens. That is VERY sad.
Thank you both.
Silly old me. Caring about other people.
Forget that if everyone actually believed this sentiment was 'sad' we would have NO teachers, social workers, nurses, etc. etc. etc.
And for ANYONE who thinks that nobody deserves a 'free ride' - congratulations for getting to where you are with zero help from anybody else ever in your life. You must be amazing for having built the road you drive on to your job hat you are fortunate to have right now, for pumping your water from a well, and for homeschooling yourself.
I'm thoroughly impressed.

On an entirely different note..
I feel silly for even getting involved in this. WE LOST the fight a LOOOONG time ago (aka when the bill was held up by SC).
What difference does any of this make?
So they will fire people, reduce hours So others will have insurance (including me) that wasn't there before So we pay a little extra taxes
SO WHAT?!
Times change. We need to move on.
Frankly I will be honest, we have OTHER issues still at hand. This one is dead. Do I disagree? Yes, I do but thank GOD this is STILL AMERICA where I can say "that was dumb" but still if the People have spoken, its still my country.
Though I would love for this to have been a majority vote issue, it was not. So its done

Seriously, I'm so over the 'me,me, me' mentality. THAT is why this country is going to shitts, because everyone is more concerned with what THEY are entitled to.
There is no sense of compassion anymore.
There should a list for people who don't want to 'pay for others' so when your shitt out on your luck, we can refer to that list and make sure WE show the same courtsey to you and yours that you have shown to others.

OUR citizens is one thing.. EVERY ONE is entirely different
and pardon me for thinking NOTHING In life SHOULD be free. I know some Americans may need the coverage who are just down on their luck but I KNOW there are plenty other leaches out there who have MADE this situtation the way it is by just taking the free ride. THAT is SAD! period.
And yeah so sue me I dont want to pay for an illegal alien who crossed the border JUST to come into the US to get medical free and clear. Its a rather big issue here as you (im sorry should I say as Ya'll) can imagine
difference of opinions I guess.
i tend to agree. in a dream world, everything would be unicorns and butterflies. everyone would be happy and healthy, well fed and always taken care of but that is just not how it works - y'all. Nothing in life is fair, NOTHING in life is free.

What is done for the mental ill?
Where's the help?
I have one of these 'issues' within my family. NOTHING has changed. Just give him more drugs, keep him calm and well you could get him arrested and put in prision because THAT is helpful.
BTW: I was trying to be the bigger person and just stop arguing but that was silly. You want to argue the details of why this is so important look at all our members who have children who have benefited. How can we argue with that? You want to win this unimportant argument? Fine
FTW done. move on.
I want to SEE improvement not talk about it.
its not perfect. But no one wants to just say that. Its here. its not perfect but we got this. NO we'd rather argue WHY it HAS to be better. It just seems so counter productive.
AS does saying 'ya'll' every 5secs. Which is by the way so funny since its a widely used phrase, but cute. Thanks

I wonder, if a middle class person became shit out of luck, would you even be able to get any help? Ex. If my dh lost his job, UE is nothing, can't get food stamps or WIC if you have cash in the bank. See where I am going with this? Middle class has to be Me me me, because no one else gives an EFF. Not the rich, and not the people that have been draining our resources and our pockets. Not politicians and people running this country.
Do you know how many people are on welfare for life? LIFE! And then have kids on welfare for life. People dripping in gold w new cars paying with food stamps. It's a situation that needs to be handled before taking more money out of MC pockets.

I could give you the honest f*cking answer but that might be too controversial even for this arena.
Do you have any idea how LONG things take to go into effect, for various reasons? Obamacare has NOT gone into effect yet! It takes time to make real, viable, lasting, meaningful change. But when change gets BLOCKED at every corner, every single mother effing step of the way NOTHING happens and we ALL lose.
And dumb shits like some of the greedy, heartless corporations we are hearing about don't make it any easier.

Obamacare YIKES!!!
Why is it OK that we educate all of our citizens, rich and poor, but we can't guarantee them at least BASIC healthcare?
Why is healthcare, something which has been regarded world wide as a basic human right, a privilege in the United States when education is a right of every citizen?
And for those of you opposed to any form of national healthcare, Obama care etc, are you willing to abolish public sector education? How about programs for disabled? Welfare? Food Stamps?
Or is it just healthcare that is a privilege?

Oh I can guarantee that many of those arguing against health care would readily abolish food stamps and welfare as well.
Education though, never. Apparently THAT is just the right amount of socialist for it to not be socialist.

the real problem is the cost of healthcare in this country.
i did not read the whole thread skimmed thought must of it but isnt this really the problem. Maybe there should be some regulation on how much healtcare is. Its ridculous how much hospital and doctor visits are.
i am the first person to admit i know nothing about obamacare but really wouldnt it help the problem if healthcare didnt cost so much to begin with.

I'm not opposed to covering everyone, but can we afford it? Our government can not. Our gov't can not afford a lot of things. Eventually we will be paying for this. I'm worried about my family. I'm worried about my kids. We are being taxed into oblivion and I think, how will I afford to retire? How will I afford the skyrocketing cost of college for my children. SS is not going to be there for us. What will happen to our pensions and 401k's when the gov't decides they need more $$? I feel like people do not look beyond what is happening right this second.
How many illegals are going to flood this country because of this new benefit the MC is paying for? People in Texas and Arizona see this problem first hand

This practice has been going on for years and is nothing new. Many companies have been keeping employees as PT to avoid benefits.
I don't blame Obama care for it.
Yeah I have seen this happen a lot. They keep you just a hair under the hours required to be considered full time with benefits.

Saying that everyone should be covered doesn't mean that there are absolutely NO rules, stipulations, that people get to then sit home and get free everything. OBVIOUSLY that's not how it would work. Come on.
I understand how things work. I actually understand your side of the debate. No one is changing opinions, but no one seems willing to understand the other side of it.
By the way sick burn, using the word y'all. If you we're trying to get under my skin, takes WAY more than that.
My uninsured ass is going to work now.
