and so many people i ask in person about obama say "i dont know, i just want a change" or "i dont know, mccain is old"
or, "well, obama will take land that people own and put it to good use!"
or even better "well, mccain voted for the bail out"
SO DID OBAMA!!!
I find ignorance on both sides. There are youtube videos of interviews in Harlem where the Obama supporters know nothing about their candidate. There are videos of McCain supporters who are obviously racist and think Obama is a sleeper cell terrorist. I wish people would actually research their candidate instead of repeating whatever they've read or heard from biased sources.
As a democrat I'm voting third party this year. I can't vote for someone who thought that voting for a bailout with billions in pork barrel spending was a good idea. If either of these men were a real leader they'd have stood up and demanded the pork to be removed!
We need to lower the national debt to improve the economy and sadly I don't think EITHER of the candidates know how to achieve that.

I really have trouble with the whole "where are your facts to support your OPINION" Since when do people base opinions or decisions merely on facts? As far as I know they base them on FEELINGS and facts or even inaccurate information they have.
Neither of our CANDIDATES have given all of the facts, thats why we love factchecker.org Why are we holding LIFers to a higher standard?
I do not question people's source since anyone can say in either side that the source is biased, etc..
What I have an issue with is comments of incredible claims without facts.
The friend of my BIL's neighbor said that Europe, South America, Asia, blah blah blah.... That is not a fact!!!!
Like saying that Socialism leads to Communism. That's based on polical doctrines in "books". In reality, lots of countries mix political doctrines. It's not that cut and dry IRL.

Same here, plus IM petrified to see what will happen to this great Nation once it is destroyed by Socialism
the OP clearly asked:
Which of his policies do you find most compelling? What was the deciding factor (positive about McCain, not looking for negative about Obama)

This is the definition I got too in my polical classes.
But in reality most socialist countries are also a bit capitalist too. They combine both doctrines.[/QU
Oops I forgot to list my example. Cuba. When Castro came in he came in under a platform of socialism which later turned into communism (although it is not truly communism). I am very versed in Cuban politics courtesy of my parents
I appreciate your example and can see where you are coming from. I would personally classify Cuba has dictatorship.

There is a loose connection between socialism & communism but again different people have different resources and different ideas about what is right or wrong. I personally disagree with asking people to prove why they believe in something. Even if their knowledge base is incorrect.

Yes, I agree, that is what it became but not what it started out as. Everything becomes something else. Good or Bad.

Re: An open question to McCain supporters....
So in other words its ok for Obama supporters to post on a thread SPECIFICALLY calling McCain supporters, but not ok for a McCain supporter to flub and make a negative comment that loosely references Obama??? Come on!!!! That is ABSURD!!!!! Its always a double effing standard here with the cliques & all the crap. It amazes me at times that this community is made up of so many intelligent, kind hearted, well rounded people when threads like this make us all look like idiots.

The random comments from 'the other' side are always what turn a good hearted post into more of the same old $hit
I think that started within the first 3 posts of this...
With that said, MY first post was showing appreciation for someone's informative post.. to which someone quoted me and it went from there.
but I agree with you,,,

NEVER did i say it was okay. All I did was point out the fact that this thread specifically asked McCain supporters to cite positives about him, and did NOT want negative about Obama. And it was a McCain supporter who in fact, turned it negative.
eta: the first five posts were all positive mccain supporter responses....it was at the 6th post that it went downhill

well, i think that happened, once again, because it is often hard to give reasons without comparing I mean, that is what we do - we compare one person to the other
